Obscure Confection of Desire

With Mother’s Day and Easter fast approaching it seemed the ideal time to run through a few sweet treat favourites we have been rediscovering with the youngsters in our lives – all of them are a little indulgent but fun!

Maybe your mother has a secret yen for…

Raspberry ruffles

The combination of dark chocolate, coconut, raspberry tang in little cute mini bars is somehow irresistible.

Walnut whip

Still available from Marks and Spencer's, the ‘healthy’ walnut on top of the thick swirl of chocolate hiding soft marshmallowy fluffiness is a sensual delight

Flake

Another sensual delight, all those little shards of chocolate dissolving on the tongue, the risk of it crumbling away before you can tuck it all away. Who can remember the naughty TV adverts, watercolours in a rainy meadow etc? Maybe your mum.Yeah.

Reese's pieces

Not for everyone, but those who love them adore them. The salty richness of the peanut butter melds with the smooth milk chocolate to produce a satisfying American delight which far outshines Hershey bars.

Chocolate Brazils

These were my Nana’s personal favourite, bless her, and there is something satisfying about breaking through the candy chocolate coating to crunch through the smooth butteriness of a whole Brazil nut. Healthy indulgence. Yum.

Chocolate Ginger

Pretty refined, the dark smooth chocolate smooths out the fire of the stem ginger in a very more-ish manner

Raffaelo

A relatively recent addition, the coconut softness of this confection also feels a tad healthier than the norm without missing out on pure indulgence factor.

Liquorice Allsorts

Yes the liquorice is good for you and those cute brightly coloured confections are like sweet sushi for the soul. Go on…

Green and Black’s butterscotch chocolate

The bar will disappear before you know it. Wickedly addictive.

I could go on but I have some chocolate to enjoy! And I am sure you have too…
